Learning Objectives
After successful completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Restate expert opinion regarding recent changes to the standard of care for patients with Crohn’s Disease
  • Recall the mechanism of action of biologic therapies and how they interfere with the cascade of biochemical events involved in the inflammatory response.
  • Advise a young patient hospitalized with active Crohn’s Disease on the risks and benefits of early use of biologic therapies.
  • Counsel a middle-aged patient who has undergone ileocolonic resection for Crohn’s Disease on the risks and benefits of antiTNF therapy to prevent postoperative recurrence
  • Evaluate recent clinical research advances as they apply to patients with Crohn’s Disease, and provide a higher level of care.

Accreditation

Target Audience
This activity is intended for gastroenterologists, internists, nurses, surgeons, clinical researchers, and other health care professionals with an interest in the treatment of patients with Crohn’s Disease.
